Goal Orientations, Self-Regulated Learning Strategies and Problem-Solving: A Mediational Analysis

This study investigates goal orientations, and self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies, particularly for differential equations (DEs) based problem-solving. Two adapted self-designed questionnaires SRL an assessment test containing five self-developed DEs tasks were distributed among 430 students studying in inter-colleges. Collected data was further examined through SPSS Smart PLS software. Initially, direct effects of orientations (mastery, performance, avoidance goal) (elaboration critical thinking) considered. Findings revealed that mastery, goals, elaboration had a significant effect on DEs’ However, no such observed performance goals thinking. Similarly, it only the role mediation both mastery goals. Likewise, case thinking, observed. The current confirmed strategies influence DE Therefore, educators teachers may structure their classroom activities to review incorporate these which will enhance students’ internal motivation, resulting improvement problem-solving ability.
